He Came Anyway!

"Jesus therefore, knowing all things that would come upon Him, went forward . . ." John 18:4.

God is omniscient, all knowing! Jesus is God incarnate; God who became man--the God Man!

John 1:1, 14. He knows the end from the beginning. Nothing surprises Almighty God!

This means Jesus knew:

-That man would sin before Adam was created;

-That man would need a Redeemer to reconcile man back into fellowship with the Father;

-That He, Jesus, would be that Redeemer. Jesus is the "Lamb slain before the foundation of the world,

Revelation 13:8;

-That each time Israel offered a blood sacrifice for their sin it represented what Jesus would one day come

and accomplish permanently. Jesus is the "Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world",

John 1:29;

-That He, Jesus, would come to His own creation, possession, and people and would not be received. "He

came to His own, and His own did not receive Him", John 1:11;

-That He, Jesus, would be "despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief,

and we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him", Isaiah 53:3;

-That He, Jesus, would be the One who "has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed

Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was

bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.

And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all", Isaiah 53:4-6;

-That He, Jesus, was born to die a substitutional and vicarious death for us all. "But for this purpose I

came into this hour. . . And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself. This He

said signifying what death He would die", John 12:27, 32-33;

-That when He went to the Garden of Gethsemane He would be betrayed and arrested, yet He went

anyway, John 18:4;

-That He would endure a mock trial, face false allegations, and be verbally and physically abused;

-That He would suffer the most horrendous death imaginable; the beating, humiliation, shame, and

crucifixion;

-That He, Jesus, would take on our sin. He who knew no sin would, for the first and only time

throughout eternity, be separated from the Father and suffer the wrath of Holy God as payment for our

sin, 2 Corinthians 5:21;

-That He, Jesus, must suffer death and experience the resurrection so believers might live!;

-That the only way to have a relationship with the Father would be by coming through Him. Jesus said "I

am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me", John 14:6;

-That "he who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see

life, but the wrath of God abides on him", John 3:36;

-That some would believe, but many would reject Him as Savior, Matthew 7:13-14.

God, the Father, knew all these things, and yet, "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life", John 3:16. Jesus Christ is the greatest gift ever given!

Jesus Christ knew all this would befall Him, yet He chose to come anyway! What love He demonstrated toward us all! This is Amazing Grace! This is Christmas!
